“I got the idea to fund
animal law degrees at universities because so many law degree programs are impacted and the level of interest in animal law
has increased greatly amongst students and the public,” explained Barker.
The animal law degree initiative by
Barker started with his Alma Mater, Drury University, in Spring Field, Missouri. The success of inserting animal law at Drury
was followed up by Barker donating up to $1 million to eight law schools including Columbia, Harvard, Stanford and UCLA.

Barker told the crowd at the festival
that he plans to aid universities in the creation of more animal law degrees throughout the nation and expressed his satisfaction
with the animal law program at Drury. “I’ve been very proud of the response from the students
attending Drury,” grinned Barker. “The animal law degree program is full for the current semester and 90 members
have joined the animal rights club established on that campus.”
Bob Barker, 50 year television vet
has been a well-known national advocate on animal rights issues and has often spoken on animal topics including animal neglect
at zoos and cruelty throughout the world. Barker created the DJ&T Foundation in memory of his wife and mother to support
free and cost efficient spaying and neutering clinics and programs for pets.
